This is a game I played back in December. I won with 254 points and my friend lost with 170 points. Not the best pic, but still a shot.

I was winning this one until I got owned by VOLATILE on a triple word like three turns before the end of the game. 86 points--ouch.

If it wasn't for her last COMMENTS, dropping all seven letters, I totally could have beat antarcticlust!  Instead, she capped me on her last move, sneaking ahead 320-something to 270-something.  Grrrr!

I got paired with a first-year student at my school, and she, a random person on her hall, my roommate, and I found a Scrabble board in their lounge. This is the result.

It's in the book!Collapse )

Don't worry, I'm still puzzled by some of those words too. They're in The Book, though. Even luv. :)

Two friends and I broke out the scrabble board out on Saturday night in the summery backyard.

The board, first game.

The second board.

chickenamazing and I played an excellent game of Scrabble today. We both broke 300 (which for us is a good game). We both bingoed. We used 5 of the 8 triple word scores, and as you'll see in the graph below (I GRAPHED IT, because I'm such a dork) Lindsay maintained the lead the entire game until the very last turn when I squeezed ahead and beat her by a mere nine points! She kicked my ass in the very beginning with QUEEN (44 points with "IN"). I then spent half the game trying to catch up to her, and succeeding for a moment when we had the exact same score (126/126), and then she soundly slapped me in the face with FLORALS and STANDBY for 108 points! I threw down HEARTILY for 76, and then it was another game of catch-up.

so this was entirely accidental, but a number of factors came together to tie the game up into a theme:

1) myself and my opponent both live in austin, tx--one of the more, erm, elevated towns in america.

2) we had three plays in quick succession near the beginning of the game that fit the theme: toke, daze, stoned.

3) my final score (unintended side effect) was 420.

4) i actually know the meaning of all of the words we played! i've found that playing impaired (though i was sober at gametime and i presume my opponent was as well) leaves me less able to play words i don't otherwise use. okay, i'd never use ait, but the rest of them might actually come up in a conversation....

This is really nothing to be proud of, but I found it interesting in that we finished with the upper left half completely clear. If there are words that can extend into that empty space I do not know them.

There are a few non-words, ren, renet & ede, at the bottom right. I didn't do it; I'm red. That's why I prefer the 'automatic validation' setting. I'm too trusting — not always on top of catching invalid words, esp. when playing 5-15 min. games.
